This special evening is dedicated to raising funds for vital Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research\, in honour of our much-loved colleague and friend\, Bret Quinn\, who is currently living with MND. \nSMEG has partnered with MonSTaR Foundation\, as we are committed to supporting research that seeks to better understand this devastating disease\, improve treatment options\, and ultimately\, find a cure. \n“My name is Bret Quinn and I worked at Smeg for around 7 years before being diagnosed with MND in late 2023. I stepped away from work a couple of months later to focus on my health and spend time with my family. I’m a proud dad of three daughters – Triere\, who is married to Alex and mum to Alfie (2) and Adelaide (10 months)\, Jasmine (20) and Indi (18). Jasmine and Indi still live at home with my wife Roz and me.\n“MND has turned my world upside down. I went from being active and independent – cooking\, skiing\, camping and travelling\, to now needing full-time assistance. My wife Roz and I had plans to travel once our youngest finished school in 2024\, but those dreams have been put on hold. In just 16 months I have gone from walking to now being in a wheelchair full-time and reliant on equipment and support for daily life. \n“As hard as this journey is\, I feel deeply grateful for the love and support from my family and friends\, their presence lightens the load. I’ve taken part in research and clinical trials\, hoping my involvement helps lead to a cure and offers hope for others in the future. Your support is incredible – THANK YOU. DESCRIPTION:The final MonSTaR Golfers Day for 2019 will be on Thursday 5th December at Concord Golf Club and we hope to see many of our members there. \nWe have over 65 MonSTaR golfer members who meet 5 times a year to enjoy a day out at different courses around Sydney. Join with a friend or make some new ones while you help raise money for some great causes. Each day includes a sandwich lunch on arrival\, team and individual scoring format & prizes\, post golf canapes and presentation. Groups are mixed up each time with an overall winner at the end of the 5 match series in addition to prizes at each event. \nThe MonSTaR Golfers is an annual membership of $1\,000 which includes a $500 donation to MonSTaR which is tax deductible. The membership comprises 5 golf days throughout the year. For 2019 these are: \n\nTuesday 19th February – St Michael’s Golf Club\nWednesday 17th April – Avondale Golf Club\nTuesday 18th June – Pennant Hills Golf Club\nThursday 21st November – Bonnie Doon Golf Club\nThursday 5th December – Concord Golf Club (Christmas event including dinner. DESCRIPTION:Australian cricket legend Mark Waugh will be the guest speaker for our Sportsman’s Lunch on Friday 25th October from 12.30pm to 4.30pm at the newly renovated Pennant Hills Golf Club.  We invite all our supporters\, friends and guests to join us for a fabulous afternoon comprising an all-inclusive 3 course lunch and drinks package along with plenty of laughs\, stories and entertainment. Individual tickets are $150 each or a table of 10 is $1\,500. \nPlease arrive promptly at 12.30pm as we have a packed schedule to get through. Registration and breakfast starts at 9.00am with player briefing at 10.00am and shotgun start for 144 players at 10.30am. By 3.30pm\, golf is complete with canapes\, drinks and presentations in the club house. \nThe MonSTaR Ball then begins at The Westin Sydney at 6.45pm with a fabulous night of food\, drinks\, entertainment\, live band and dancing through to 12.15am. Of couse the evening also comprises our wonderful auctions and raffles – all raising money for our beneficiaries – the STaR Association and Motor Neurone Disease. \nWe look forward to welcoming you to a wonderful event for a great cause.
