Whilst we recognise the need to raise funds to support our beneficiaries, we also appreciate that many of our supporters will most likely have more pressing matters to deal with. After discussions between the MonSTaR Directors, we feel that at this time, this is the right decision.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has both donated items and/or bid on items up to this point. All bids placed so far will be removed. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will be in touch with item donors to see if they are happy to continue to support the auction when we are ready to re-launch.

Notwithstanding what we are facing, Australia will recover and at that point we will reconsider offering our auction items again.

A few additional thoughts from the MonSTaR team…

After the cancellation of this year’s MonSTaR Cup and Ball on Monday, we have discussed whether we should run the online auction. We very much appreciate that these are difficult times and everyone’s personal, business and financial situation is different.

We are also aware that our beneficiaries rely on our funding and many of the children and those with MND who we support are even more vulnerable in situations like these and their needs are still as important as they ever were.

We do appreciate that some people may not be in a position to support the auction and we completely understand. However, if you are still able to bid, we and our beneficiaries would very much appreciate it.

We are extremely sorry to advise that we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 MonSTaR Cup and Ball on Friday 27th March. This includes both the golf day and the evening function. This follows the official Government directive banning events of over 500 people due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and further developments over the weekend regarding smaller events/groups.

After considering all the factors and wanting to ensure that everyone remains safe, we felt cancellation was the only reasonable option.

As you can imagine, we are shattered that we can’t hold the event this year – the first time in 14 years – and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has so generously supported this year.

ONLINE SILENT AUCTION WILL STILL HAPPEN!
In the meantime, we still plan to run the online auction and we would LOVE your support to ensure we can still raise funds for our beneficiaries for whom this money is critical. We will post the link once the auction goes live – hopefully before Friday 20th March. The auction will still close on the evening of Friday 27th March. Once it goes live – bidding at any time is welcome and strongly encouraged!
