Testimonials"I am very proud to be patron of The MonSTaR Foundation... an organisation determined to make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and to those suffering from MND, their families and their carers". - Peter Overton, MonSTaR Patron"Since its inception the MonSTaR Cup has grown to become the single largest annual fundraising event for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of NSW. Funds raised through the MonSTaR Cup have helped provide much needed equipment and support to people with MND enabling people to communicate and stay at home with their families, friends and stay part of the wider community, also supporting research into this dreadful disease. For a person with MND the average life expectancy from diagnosis is 27 months. The motor neurones die leaving the person paralysed; often unable to speak, eat and sometimes breathe for themselves. The continued relationship with the MonSTaR Cup in 2010 will help MND NSW expand the communication devices within the equipment pool, helping families stay connected." - Graham Opie, CEO, MND NSW "The MonSTaR Cup support we have received these past 3 years has been fundamental to ensuring we continue to grow and strengthen as an organisation. Being a small charity it is difficult to attract donations and corporate sponsorship, yet without it we cannot survive. Every child that comes to STaR has their own story, some of the injustices and indignities they have suffered in their short lives are difficult to understand, let alone accept. The greatest gift we can give our children is education and the ability to socialise. The MonSTaR Cup has allowed the STaR Association to continue to provide these opportunities and increase our services to a further 6 childcare centers and 20 children with disabilities. The success of The MonSTaR Cup events is not measured only by the amount of money that is raised but also the fact that awareness about Motor Neurone Disease and children with disabilities is raised in a very sensitive and supportive manner. The STaR board, staff and families are grateful to the MonSTaR board and all those who support this event for making such a difference to the lives of so many. " -Margaret Meaker, General Manager, STaR Association "I have been to all but one of the MonSTaR Cup dinners, and have had a great time at all of them. The night is a tremendous night, and raises much needed funds for care and research. MNDA NSW provides tremendous support for care of patients with MND, as well as vital funds into research into MND." - Dominic Rowe, B.Sc(Med) M.B.B.S.(Hons) FRACP PhD (UNSW) |
