New patients with MND are seen rapidly to enable accurate assessment and ascertainment of the diagnosis.
Referrals of patients with MND are seen as soon as possible to enable assessment of the major issues. The MND clinic at Macquarie Neurology is held every Wednesday at Macquarie University Clinic.
The MND Clinic at Macquarie Neurology is run for patients with MND with some financial support from the MND Association of NSW. MND NSW provides part funding for the MND nurse coordinator position at Macquarie Neurology. The MND service at Macquarie Neurology is also generously supported by donations from patients, family and the community. This support allows the clinic to provide expert care for patients at very little cost.
The MND Clinic at Macquarie will provide in house multidisciplinary assessment and care of patients with MND. The Multidisciplinary team at Macquarie comprises neurology, respiratory, nursing, physiotherapy, dietitian, speech therapy, social work, orthotics, and occupational therapy health practitioners. They work as a team to provide integrated centralised care of patients with MND, and to support families and carers of patients with MND.
The clinic is operated under the leadership of Professor Dominic Rowe.
